Broadheadsville, PA - July 20, 2024: The United States Kickboxing Alliance - USKA 111, was held Saturday night at the Signature Event Center. President of USKA Fight Sports Gary Grant Jr. arranged for thirteen bouts on the card, including three title fights.

The main event of the night saw Scott Chieu of Fight Firm (Philadelphia) defend, for the first time, his 135 pound title against Kyle Thompson of Outfox MMA (Virginia Beach). Gary said many people thought Kyle was the favorite in the fight even though Scott was the defending champion. However, Chieu appeared confident from the moment he entered the ring. He rocked Thompson in the second period with several combination punches. Afterward, Thompson wobbled around the ring and could barely stand, the referee then called the fight, Chieu victorious with the TKO.

In what was the best fight of the night, Jesse Romano of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Nazareth and Gavin Morales of UFC Gym Lancaster, battled it out in a 175 pound bout. This was a real donnybrook of a fight which saw Romano, out of the blue corner, defend his title with a narrow win by decision. Some fans and officials said this fight could have been called a draw but the judges saw it a bit different. Gary said afterwards that it was “the fight of the night” and possibly one of the best fights, if not the best, he has ever seen at USKA.

The third title fight saw Spencer Saarloos of Tiger Schulman’s Karate (Brick, NJ) win by a split decision over Josh Martinez of UFC Gym Lancaster, a real 155 pound slugfest. Gary thought this fight could have gone “either way” but the win by Saarloos “sets him up for a huge opportunity to now fight in October at Madison Square Garden.”

Other winners on the night were Steve Tius of Crazy 88 Muay Thai Kickboxing (Elkridge, MD), Jared Karlow of UFC Gym Lancaster, a KO victory by Miles Hunter of Fifth Dimension Martial Arts Academy (Wilkes-Barre, PA), Raymond Santiago Jr. of Finishers MMA (Bethlehem, PA), a TKO win by Tabot Beltus Ebai of Crazy 88, Mike Gunion III of Powerhalf Wrestling Academy/Cressman MMA, a TKO win by Jason Ryan Vogel of Renzo Gracie Hatfield, Derek Cortes of Crazy 88 with a KO win in the second, Lucas Fiss of Stay Fit Muay Thai (Philadelphia) win by a split decision, and Jarrett Mieczkowski of Rob’s Fight Club (Horsham, PA) with the win by unanimous decision.

Grant was happy with the event, saying: “The card was the best kickboxing card I have ever seen.” The event saw all seats filled with many standing room only spots for the fans and “the card was perfect with a little bit of everything.” Gary continued by saying that the fight of the night was Morales v Romano, the fighter of the night was Chieu, and the knock out of the night was Ebai.

The event was televised live on Fight Week TV. The next USKA event will be in September 2024. You can get more information about USKA by going to uskafightsports.com or you can email Gary at uskafightsports@gmail.com.
