Chester, PA - August 28, 2024: The Philadelphia Union battled defending MLS and League Cup Champions Columbus Crew Wednesday night at Subaru Park in a defensive struggle that saw the Crew edge the Union 1-0.

The Union threatened early and often when in the 13th minute, Union forward Tai Baribo took a pass from Quinn Sullivan and took the early shot on goal but it bounced off the right post and was cleared. Then in the 38th minute, Sullivan took a shot that nailed the crossbar and the Union were denied once again. Baribo would make it 0-3 on near goals when in the 54th minute, he had an open shot which was stopped by Crew goaltender Patrick Schulte.

The Crew would finally break the scoreless match in the 75th minute on a Yaw Yeboah header and that was enough for the Crew victory on a very steamy night at Subaru Park.
