Trojans Battle Bulldogs

Allentown, PA - January 3, 2024: The Parkland High School Trojans went into a non-conference matchup against the Wilson (West Lawn) Bulldogs unbeaten, and for a majority of the game, it looked like Parkland would easily stay that way. Wilson, on the other hand, from nearby District 3, was vying to make a statement with a young talented team. Parkland led by as many as 8 points in the first half as they were playing very confidently. After the half, the game became more physical and it seemed like every drive there could have been a foul called. Wilson's Laila Jones (4) became more involved in the offense/scoring as she started driving the lane. Wilson, who was able to keep the game close enough, also slowed things down with their ball movement on offense and this seemed to take Parkland out of their rhythm. Wilson would eventually take the lead but Parkland fought back, tying the game late in regulation and sending it into overtime. The Bulldogs took the tip in OT and pulled away once again. Jones went on a 6-0 run of her own with three consecutive layups, she finished the game with a team high 23 points, as Wilson defeated Parkland 46-41. Madison Siggins led Parkland with 19 points. The below photo shows Parkland's Talia Zurinskas (1) driving the lane as two Wilson players reach to defend.
