Center Valley, PA - September 15, 2023: The Southern Lehigh High School Spartans hosted the Palisades High School Pirates for a Colonial League football matchup. The Spartans came into the game looking to stay unbeaten and although they had numerous penalties, a couple of dropped balls, and failed to convert a couple PAT's, they easily defeated the Pirates 48-6. Southern Lehigh took the opening kickoff and marched down the field for an easy first score, a 3-yard run by Cade Sawyer who had a big night. After Palisades fumbled the pursuant kickoff and it was recovered by the Spartans, they scored for the second time early in the game. By the end of the first quarter, Southern Lehigh would add three more touchdowns, 35-0. The Pirates had a drive going in the 2nd quarter but failed to convert on a 4th and 4 in Spartan territory and they turned the ball over on downs. The Pirate defense stepped up in the 2nd quarter, as well as Southern Lehigh committing some penalties, and both teams were held scoreless. The Spartans would add two touchdowns in the second half. The Pirates managed their only score in the 3rd quarter. The below photo shows Southern Lehigh's Cade Sawyer (17) trotting into the end zone for the first touchdown of the game.
