Penn State v Yale Soccer

State College, PA - September 4, 2026: The Penn State men’s soccer team edged Yale 1-0 Friday night at Jeffrey Field behind some fine play by their underclassmen. The win improved Penn State’s overall record to 2-2.

The lone score in this tight contest came in the second half at the 49:31mark when sophomore Joe Buckley (Westwood, MA) took a pass from freshmen Nehan Hasan (West Chester, PA) in the box to his right foot. Buckley then hit a dribbler past the Yale goalie to the bottom right corner of the net for the Penn State lead. It was Buckley’s first collegiate goal.

Penn State pressed all night and controlled the action for the most part. Penn State freshman goalie Daniel Peluffo-Wiese had a clean sheet, the first of his career. Yale could only muster five shots toward goal while Penn State took fourteen shots.

Attendance for the Thon promotion match was 1,458.

Penn State’s next match is on September 11th at Washington when they start Big10 play.
