Allentown, PA - November 16, 2024: Muhlenberg College defeated Montclair State University 21-0 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game on Senior Day at Scott Woody Stadium. They finish the regular season with a record of 7-3.
After Montclair won the coin toss and deferred to the second half, they tried to surprise Muhlenberg when they attempted an onside kick. Montclair however was called for two penalties on the kick, offsides and illegal touching, and it gave Muhlenberg the ball on the Montclair 42-yard line.
Muhlenberg capped off a 7 play, 42-yard, drive when senior QB Joe Repetti (11) hit senior WR Christopher Ardito (10) with a 13-yard pass in the end zone. The kick by Connor Fenstermaker (92) was good and the Muhls went up 7-0.
As Montclair was moving the ball on their first possession of the game, Muhlenberg junior safety Marcus McLaine (3) intercepted a pass and returned it 42-yards to the 16-yard line, setting up the Muhleberg offense deep in Montclair territory. The Muhlenberg offense seem to stall a bit but on 4th down from the 8-yard line, Repetti rolled out and found senior TE Jordan Kiley (87) wide open for the touchdown. The kick by Fenstermaker (92) was good and Muhlenberg went up 14-0.
The rest of the first half saw both teams struggle on offense and they exchanged three punts each to close out the first half, 14-0 Muhlenberg.
Late in the 3rd quarter, after a couple mistakes which included a fumble by Muhlenberg and a second pass by Montclair thrown for an interception, Muhlenberg’s junior RB Matthew Manning (32) scored on a 2-yard run to put the Muhls up 21-0.
In the 4th quarter, both offenses continued to struggle and there was no further scoring in the game.
For the Muhlenberg offense, junior RB Amari Dunn (24) was the workhorse as he carried the ball 20 times for 102 yards. The Muhlenberg defense was led by freshman LB Thomas Cerruti (58) who had a total of 9 tackles. Repetti was 6 for 18 and 64 yards in passing.
