Allentown, PA - February 4, 2025: In a Centennial Conference matchup Wednesday night inside Memorial Hall, Muhlenberg College’s Jack Woodard scored 16 points, and Drew Buck added 15, in leading the Mules to a 56-53 victory over visiting Dickinson College.

The teams struggled to score early as both committed turnovers and missed shots. It wasn’t until three minutes into the game that Dane Moran put Dickinson up 2-0. It would be their only lead until later in the first half. The game saw seven lead changes.

Muhlenberg would go ahead moments later on a Woodard 3-pointer. Woodard would add a layup on the next possession and Muhlenberg was now up 5-2. They extended the lead to 13-4 about halfway through the first half after Buck’s 3-pointer and several free throws. Woodard would also hit another 3-pointer.

Dickinson, who controlled in the paint, would claw their way back into the game by the half as the score narrowed to 25-22 in favor of Muhlenberg. Dickinson scored 26 points in the paint to Muhlenberg’s 6 points. Jacob Pichay led Dickinson with 16 points while Edmond Isaiah and Dane Moran each contributed 11 points for the Red Devils.

In the second half, Muhlenberg extended their lead to double digits. At the 12:15 mark, Muhlenberg was up 41-29. Dickinson, however, would again fight their way back into the game as they closed the gap by going on an 11 point run. At the 9:43 mark, the score was 41-39 still in favor of the Mules but Dickinson had the momentum. At the 7:43 mark, Dickinson came all the way back and the score was tied at 43-43.

The score remained close down the stretch and was tied on a couple occasions but with just under a minute to play, Dickinson took the lead and put the pressure on the Mules offense. Muhlenberg responded. After Pichay made one of two free throws to put the Red Devils up 52-51, on Muhlenberg’s next possession, Arinze Achufusi hit a jumper in the key to put the Mules back up by one with 23 seconds left in the game.

Dickinson took the ball down court while Muhlenberg pressured on defense. At the 10 second mark, Dickinson missed a layup. Dickinson then committed a foul of Buck and he hit both free throws to essentially seal the victory.

The win improved Muhlenberg’s overall record to 11-9. They are 4-4 in the Centennial Conference with five game remaining.
