Liberty Handles Easton

Bethlehem, PA - April 8, 2024: The Liberty High School Hurricanes softball team defeated the visiting undefeated Easton High School Red Rovers 13-6 late Monday afternoon in a game that started later than usual due to a solar eclipse. Liberty came into the game 5-1 overall while Easton was 5-0. Liberty had Easton on the verge of a run-rule game after a big seven run 4th inning but Easton scored four runs in the 5th inning to extend the game a full seven. In that 4th inning, Easton made some mistakes in the field which led to several runs. Liberty pitcher Addy Smith went the distance, giving up only two hits but she walked seven. At the plate, Smith had a double in the first inning and a home run in the fourth inning for the Hurricanes. Smith however, did run into some trouble with the base on balls in that 5th inning when she walked the bases loaded as the Rovers fought back. Kaede Walsh and Cieara Barreiros each had a hit in the 5th for Easton. McKenna Beck and Anna Marie Stella contributed two hits each for Liberty. For Easton, Audrey Rinda started in the circle and was relieved by Ava Monks in the 5th inning, both giving up a combined ten hits. Anna Jones hit a solo home run in the 6th inning for Easton. Easton committed four errors while Liberty had one. Liberty is now 6-1 overall while Easton moves to 5-1.
