Bethlehem, PA - March 31, 2024: The Lehigh University softball team hosted The College of the Holy Cross, in Patriot League play at Leadership Park, for a three game set Saturday and Sunday. The teams played two games Saturday afternoon which Lehigh won 5-1 and 4-1. Lehigh was led by pitchers Katelyn Young and Maria Urban on Saturday who threw for a combined two runs, nine hits, and fifteen strike outs. Peyton Sward had the hot bat Saturday for Lehigh going 3 for 5, including two doubles. Sward scored twice and also had an RBI. Five additional Lehigh players had one hit each during both games Saturday. For Easter Sunday’s game, Lehigh won 4-0 to complete the sweep and improve to 6-0 in the Patriot League. The Mountain Hawks swept their opponent for the second weekend in a row, sweeping Colgate at home on 3/24-25. On Sunday, Lehigh scored one run in the 5th inning on a Julia Mrochko single followed by a Sydney Parlett double to right center. Parlett had two hits on the day. Lehigh then scored three runs in the 6th. Lindsey Martin and Brooke Cannon singled followed by a Rory Dudley double down the left field line. Amanda Greaney then singled for Lehigh. Katelyn Young went the distance in the circle Sunday, giving up only three hits, and striking out fourteen. Lehigh travels to Bucknell for three games on 4/6-7. Bucknell is also 6-0 in league play and coming off two sweeps of their own against Lafayette and Army. Pictured below is Lehigh's senior pitcher Katelyn Young (11).
