Bethlehem, PA - August 15, 2024: The Lehigh University women's soccer team opened their 2024 season this evening at home against the University of Maryland, the first of two Big Ten teams Lehigh will face early in the season, and lost a tough battle 2-0. Maryland scored a goal in each period, Kennedy Bell at the 24th minute and Delaney DeMartino at the 64th minute. Maryland had four shots on goal while Lehigh took seven shots on goal. Lehigh's Esther Brossard, who threatened the entire game, took three of those seven shots on goal for Lehigh. Maryland's goalkeeper Liz Beardsley stopped all shots. The Lehigh women travel to New Jersey for their next two contests, August 22nd at Seton Hall University and on August 28th at Rutgers University.
