Bethlehem, PA - January 5, 2025: Lehigh’s Ella Stemmer (5) scored 19 points, 15 of which came from three-point territory, and had 2 steals in leading the Mountain Hawks over visiting Loyola University Maryland 74-66 Sunday afternoon at Stabler Arena. Lehigh improved to 2-0 in the Patriot League and 11-3 overall.

The Mountain Hawks controlled the game from start to finish and led at times by as many as 20 points. The Greyhounds made a move in the fourth quarter and closed the gap, getting to within 4 points, but could not complete the comeback. Loyola was led by Koi Sims (10) who had 18 points and 10 rebounds. Loyola fell to 0-2 in the Patriot League and 6-7 overall.

Lehigh’s Maddie Albrecht (22) followed Stemmer with 18 points and six rebounds while teammate Meghan O’Brien (33) added 8 points and 11 big rebounds for the Mountain Hawks.

Lehigh used twelve players in the game, giving valuable playing time underclassmen, to improve their overall record against Loyola to 17-9. Loyola had defeated Lehigh three times last season, including in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament to eliminate the Mountain Hawks.

Lehigh will next host Colgate University on January 8th at 6pm at Stabler Arena. Colgate is 10-5 overall but 0-2 in the Patriot League. Colgate lost to Bucknell University 51-34 today. Lehigh defeated Bucknell 65-53 last Thursday in Lewisburg. Lehigh defeated Colgate both times last season.
