Iron Pigs Walk Off

Allentown, PA - September 3, 2025: The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs defeated the Toledo Mud Hens 8-7 Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park for their 6th straight win. The win improved the Iron Pigs’ record to 79-53. They are in third place in the International League East, trailing Scranton/Wilkes Barre and Syracuse. Toledo leads the International West Division with a record of 74-60.
Michael Mercado, in relief, picked up the win for the Iron Pigs. Mercado entered the game in the 9th inning when the score was tied 7-7. The win for Mercado improved his season record to 6-1.
In the 9th inning, three straight walks loaded the bases for the Iron Pigs. Payton Henry, with two outs, came to the plate and hit a line drive which scored the game winning run. It was Henry’s third walk-off hit of the season.
The Iron Pigs, who out hit the Mud Hens 14 to 12, were led at the plate by third baseman Otto Kemp and right fielder Gabriel Rincones Jr. Kemp went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 RBI’s while Rincones Jr. went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 3 RBI’s.
Johan Rojas and Henry both had 2 hits for the Iron Pigs while Justin Crawford, Christian Arroyo, Donovan Walton, Oscar Mercado, and Rodolfo Castro all added a hit. Crawford leads the team with 147 hits and a batting average of .334.
The Iron Pigs defeated the Mud Hens Tuesday night 10-3 so this was their second win in the six-game series. The Iron Pigs visit the East Division leaders Scranton/Wilkes-Barre next week for a six-game series before closing out the regular season at home against second place Syracuse.
