Iron Pigs Open Season

Allentown, PA - March 30, 2025: The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, in their 18th season, opened the 2025 campaign winning the first two games, before dropping the third, against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders at Coca-Cola Park.


The Iron Pigs won the first game Friday night 5-4, they won the second game Saturday afternoon by the same score, and they lost the third game Sunday afternoon 14-3.


Lehigh Valley catcher Payton Henry (#24) led the team Friday night with three hits, including two home runs, and three RBI’s. Third baseman Otto Kemp (#4) added added two hits, including a home run, and two RBI’s. Lehigh Valley out hit Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 11 to 8 in game one. Joel Kuhnel (#22) was the winning pitcher for Lehigh Valley while Max Lazar (#19) recorded the save.


Lehigh Valley first baseman Carson Taylor (#5) led the team Saturday afternoon with three hits, a home run, and two RBI’s. Gabriel Rincones Jr. (#11), outfield, added two hits for the Iron Pigs Saturday and totaled four hits for the series. Lehigh Valley out hit Scranton/Wilkes-Barre 10 to 7 in game two. Seth Johnson (#50) threw 5.1 innings for the Iron Pigs and recorded the win.


In game three Sunday afternoon, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre exploded for 16 hits to Lehigh Valley’s 6 hits. Leonardo Pestana (#30) picked up the win for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre while Mick Abel (#25) recorded the loss. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre centerfielder Ismael Munguia (#1) led his team on the weekend with five hits, two runs, and one RBI.


The Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, the Triple A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, of the International League East, lead the league in per-game attendance with an average of more than 8,500 fans. In 2024, the Iron Pigs topped the league with 588,788 total attendance in MiLB.


Coca-Cola Park has been named “Best Ballpark In Triple A Baseball.” It truly is a great place to spend time enjoying a baseball game. The Iron Pigs also have numerous promotions throughout the season, including post-game fireworks on Friday night (a fan favorite), tail waggin’ days, kids run the bases, tacos and tallboys, and many giveaways such as hats, t-shirts, and glasses.


The Iron Pigs travel to Rochester, April 1st through the 9th, for a 6-game series, before returning home, April 8th through the 13th, for a 6-game series against Syracuse.
