Emmaus, PA - December 20, 2025: The Emmaus High School girls basketball team settled down in the second half and went on to defeat visiting Parkland High School 51-45 Saturday afternoon at Emmaus. This was the first of two matchups between the two top 6A teams in District XI.
Parkland utilized the press early and it rattled Emmaus. They forced several turnovers and won the 1st period (15-9). They were also able to frustrate Emmaus’ Gabby DeVita (4) a bit and put her in foul trouble. DeVita went to the bench with three fouls at the five-minute mark of the 2nd period. Emmaus was able to settle down some and they clawed their way back to tie the game at the half (25-25).
The 3rd period was the difference in the game. DeVita came out on fire and burned Parkland in transition, sprinting down the court to haul in passes and go in for easy layups. Emmaus won the 3rd period and built a lead they would not relinquish (39-33). The 4th period saw each team score 12 points (51-45).
After the game, DeVita, the 2024 MVP, agreed: “We didn’t start strong in the first half but we settled down and started to trust each other,” she said. “We were scared and trying to force passes.” She continued by saying: “We work a lot on our transition game, pushing the ball.” “We have to have the composure we had in the second half much earlier in the game.”
Parkland came into the game undefeated. They fall to 6-1 on the season. Emmaus entered with one loss, to non-league and District III Wilson in their first game of the season. They improved to 7-1.
DeVita led all players with 19 points. Her teammate Gracie Ervin followed her with 12 points while Eva Glover contributed 8.
Parkland’s Isabella Hallal led her team with 12 points while her teammate Carly Spang had 11.
In the JV game between Parkland and Emmaus, both teams battled into overtime with Emmaus edging Parkland 32-31.
