Emmaus, PA - November 7, 2023: The Emmaus High School field hockey team defeated Methacton High School 3-2 in overtime in the first round of the PIAA 3A championship. Emmaus' Melea Weber led her team with two goals, the second, which sealed the victory in OT, marked her 100th career goal. Weber scored in the 1st period as well to give her team the lead 1-0. The contest was marked by a battle of offensive and defensive penalty corners. Methacton fought back in the 2nd half, taking the lead 2-1 before Emmaus' Sarah Schaffer scored with just over five minutes left. Emmaus, 22-1 overall, will face Wyoming Valley West next in the quarterfinals (updated: Emmaus defeated WVW and went on to win the PIAA state championship).
