Exeter Township, PA - June 7, 2025: The Easton Area High School boys and the Pleasant Valley High School girls lacrosse seasons came to an end Saturday afternoon in the PIAA 3A quarterfinals, both against one of the top programs in the state, Springfield Delco.
The lopsided loss, 15-5, for the Easton boys was their first setback of an amazing run. It came to a much better Springfield team which scored early and often. Springfield definitely displayed why they are considered the best team in Pennsylvania.
Scoring for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference (EPC) and District XI champion Red Rovers were Xavier Parker, who had two goals, Shae Linegar, who had two goals, and Evan Placotaris, who had one goal. Springfield’s Jarred Kennedy led his team with five goals. There were nine different Springfield players who scored goals while Patrick Flaherty led his team with four assists.
Easton had won their first ever PIAA boys lacrosse game just four days earlier against Pennridge, 16-7. The Red Rovers had won both the EPC championship, for the third straight year, and the District XI 3A championship this season. They defeated Allentown Central Catholic 11-9 in the EPC championship game and Parkland 13-12 in OT in the DXI championship game.
The EPC and DXI champion Pleasant Valley girls lacrosse team also lost Saturday afternoon to Springfield Delco, 15-3.
Scoring goals for Pleasant Valley were Brielle Halamar, Rylee Rath (a Northwestern University commit), and Devon Bush (a Monmouth University commit). Although eight different Springfield players scored goals, it was senior Maddie Kane (a Lehigh University commit) who led her team with four goals.
Pleasant Valley had defeated Emmaus High School in the EPC championship, to win their fourth straight, and Nazareth High School in the District XI championship, for their second straight.
Pleasant Valley Head Coach Toni Bush had announced she was stepping down at the end of this season after ten years at the helm. She was the program’s inaugural coach in 2016.
Coach Bush said after winning the DXI championship: “I’ve known them all since they were five or six years old. They’re a special group, we’ve kind of grown together. I often feel like a second mom to them more so than a coach. They’re all special to me, all of these kids. We have such a tight knit lacrosse community up here with our youth program.”
Coach Bush exits with over 100 career wins. She has also coached three daughters, Alexandra, Devon, and Lauren. Coach Bush played her collegiate lacrosse at East Stroudsburg University.
