Bethlehem, PA - September 5, 2024: Last week, the Bethlehem Catholic Golden Hawks lost 31-21 to Emmaus High School who came from behind for the win. Coming off that shocking loss, as well as having a short week to prepare, Bethlehem Catholic hosted District III's Berks Catholic Saints who made the trip to Bethlehem Area School District Stadium for a Thursday night game. Bethlehem Catholic overcame a host of penalties while Cayden Vassa scored three touchdowns to get his team back on track, defeating Berks Catholic 28-10. Vassa scored the first two touchdowns of the game on short runs up the middle on quarterback draws while his defense held the Saints to a second quarter field goal. An interception by Bethlehem Catholic's Isaiah Lebron led to one of those touchdowns. Vassa also ran for a huge first down when in their own territory, they faced a 3rd and 40 yards due to three penalties in a row. That drive led to a touchdown by Jeziah Gregory in the third quarter. Vassa would add his third touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Berks Catholic's touchdown came on a 39-yard jaunt by Nathaniel Rose in the third quarter. Bethlehem Catholic had a whopping ten penalties for 100 yards. They improve to 2-1 on the season.
