Allentown, PA - December 13, 2023: The Allentown Central Catholic (ACC) High School Vikettes hosted the 2023 PIAA 3A Champion Dunmore High School at Rockne Hall. The Vikettes, without starter Molly Driscoll who was out with a foot injury, started quick and at one point led in the 1st quarter by 12 points. Dunmore, out of District 2 near Scranton, then settled in as they closed the gap in the 2nd quarter, taking a slim lead into the half. The third and fourth quarters saw a back and forth game with Dumore mostly in control. But, the Vikettes, tightening up on defense, were able to claw their way back late to take a three point lead. And, after a few missed free throws by Dunmore and a steal on an inbound pass, the Vikettes escaped with the victory 42-39. The Vikettes were eliminated in the 2023 PIAA 4A quarterfinals by Landsdale Catholic. Dunmore is hoping to repeat this year as the 3A champion.
